Mischief Managing At Universal Studios Hollywood
When in California go to Universal Studios Hollywood and get a magic fix at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
There are only three places in this Muggle world where you can bring to life your wizarding fantasy -- Osaka, Orlando and Hollywood.
Purchase your tickets here. If you are short-term visitor, make sure to go in the morning. You should be there as earlg as 7am -- for parking and admission. Now, if you plan to come back several times in year, get yourself an annual pass -- it costs a little more expensive than the day pass but it sure is a lot of saving if you think about it. Check options for parking, too.
Admission. Upon reaching the gate, you will be asked to show your e-pass (if you made online purchase) and IDs. For annual pass customers, you will be asked to do a fingerscan before receiving your card. Wait for a few minutes because they will print your pass with your name on it. When receiving this, secure it for your next visit.

If it is your actual birthday on the date of your visit, ask for a badge! This badge is perhaps your huge birthday treat. Staff will greet you anywhere you are and you can cut the line on rides. It could also serve as your keepsake. I got mine from the guest relations office near the entrance and was assisted by one of their officers, Mustapha.
Let us skip the other attractions for now and enter the world of Harry Potter. Here are some friendly guides from another Potterhead:
Arrival. You will be first greeted by Diagon Alley which stretched to Hogsmeade. Give in to the kid in you when arriving. Feast with your eyes first before snapping photos. The Hogwarts Express is there in front with the conductor whom you can take a picture with.
The shops. Are you looking for souvenirs from Hogwarts? Go to Ollivander's, Dervish and Bange's, Honeydukes and more. This is where Diagon Alley meets Hogsmeade. Go inside the shops and check the cool items you can buy with Muggle money. Be warned that the items come in quite pricey because of magic enclosed. Here are a few items we enjoyed checking:
Keychains and wands are also sold outside the shops.
Get hydrated with Gilly Water for $4. This is the potion given by Neville to Harry in Goblet of Fire. Don't worry you wont grow gills. I sure kept my bottle.
The Gringotts bank is in Diagon Alley. Experience the 3D ride called Escape from Gringotts.
Dining. You are in the Wizarding world, don't go on a budget. At Three Broomsticks you are guaranteed a scrumptuous big platter with a refreshing butterbeer. Choose between iced or frozen drink.
The famous Butterbeer is a must-buy in Potterverse. Whilst made with Muggle ingredients, then taste is just like how you imagined it from the book or movie.
A day in the park. Street performers play on schedule. Hogwarts students sing and dance at the junction of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. Some of the performances are familiar as they are inspired by the Goblet or Fire. Wait for the singing frogs.
Take photos. Everything in this place is Instagram-worthy. Go and share your fun day to friends and family. It is the closest they get to experiencing Potter magic.
Hogwarts Castle. The construction is so huge. The floor, walls, trees, roofs, gates and the interiors a good replica to the book and movie. It is in Hogwarts where you can line up for the Forbidden Journey 3D ride. You're in for some Quidditch and a few buggers like Dementors. This ride is inside the castle.
There is also thd Flight of the Hippogriff which is an exclusive rollercoaster ride.
Take photos of the castle! Hogwarts in California was made to be a little more gloomy than that of in Orlando to get that rustic and old feeling you get from the book.
Make your visit to the Wizarding World be one of your most memorable West Coast journeys.
And for now,
Mischief managed!
